A Small SEO Milestone for My Own Website

Over the past month I’ve been making some improvements to my own website for Advantage Web Designs.

Nothing dramatic, just refining things such as page structure, headings, internal links and some locally relevant content.

This week I noticed something encouraging.

For the first time, when searching in an incognito browser on my laptop, the website appeared in position one on Google for one of my main local search terms.

On mobile the position still varies slightly between first and second place, depending on the day, which is completely normal.

Search results can vary depending on factors such as location, device type, and small algorithm updates, so a little movement like that is expected.

What this does highlight is something I often tell clients.

SEO is rarely about one big change.

Instead it’s usually the result of lots of smaller improvements made consistently over time.

Even when a website is already performing reasonably well, refining the structure, strengthening the content and improving how clearly the site communicates its purpose can make a noticeable difference.

It’s always satisfying when the same approach I recommend to clients continues to work on my own website too.

And of course, websites are never really “finished”, there’s always something that can be improved.
